Vietnam, Eisenhower, the 1950s and ‘60s - America’s Earliest Interventionism
Number of pages:
8
ABSTRACT:
This 8 page report discusses specific aspects of American interventionism in Vietnam that eventually led to U.S. involvement in the war. U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower made the decision to categorically ignore the Geneva accords of 1954 when he organized the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. In many ways, it was the first of many subsequent actions through which the United States demonstrated its arrogant disregard for international agreements when it came to Vietnam and the international community’s interventions in Vietnam. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
